Why did my wireless internet suddenly become slow? How can I fix it?

My wireless internet on my desktop computer started getting slow and choppy about 3 days ago, and I notice it becoming worse after each day. My computer is fine; I do virus/spyware scans and free up disk space.

Here's my wireless internet connection status:

Speed: 54 Mbps

Signal Strength: Very Good

Status: Connected

Normally, my wireless internet runs smoothly even when it says it has a low signal strength, but right now, it's really laggy. For example, when I sign into AIM, my computer has to reconnect to it about every 30 seconds.

On a side note, my sister and I share the same network thing, and our wireless internet works much better on her laptop, even though her laptop has a bad quality.

Try to un plug the router for a few min.. aol sucks btw.. and also unplug the cable or dsl modem for a few.. it will reset everything and speed will be back to normal.

ps. make sure the wireless modem is not close the the tower or tv etc.. that will mess up the signal for sure...

I had exactly teh same problem. I think you have an on and off connection. check to see all the cables pluged in right. and then put ur modem box two feet away from all electronic items and don't put it on carpet.

check if all the green lights are solid and not flashing occasionally.

i dont thnk its a virus problem because i had no problem with my computer too.

if problem continues call ur internet provider or chat with them online.

goood luck!!!!!!!!
restart it and use it less.
ask your internet provider.e.g bt
