Is it legal for a web site to print on their opening page that they guarantee there downloads ar free from spyware, addware and illegal tracking cookies, then when you download from the web site your computer fills up with the items the site said it is free from. I wanted some smilies so i downloaded from cursormania.com. After a while my computer started locking up. So after spending a lot of money and installing a spyware program i found some very dangerous spyware that had been downloaded from cursormania.com. so i guess my point is if you are from cursor mania and you didn't know about this then get it fixed. to all others does any one know where i can get smilies without downloading a heap of dangerous spyware?

The webmasters probably didn't scan the file or their scanners didn't detect anything. If its a download site of many types of softwares this could be the case. People upload files to share and sometimes things get by.
Download.com and Softpedia.com are trusted sources.

If it seems to good to be true (FREE) it probably is. I tried the FREE SCREEN SAVERS that you see in banners. Holy crap was that a mistake!! All kinds of crap was put on my computer, that took me hours to find and get rid of.
Bottom line, just beware.
ahh seldom is anything free in life actually free huh~ ps readthe sub agreement when you click on their ads, granting them acess to and use of your hdd space lol
do a google search for "your state, internet lawyers, attorneys" and they'll help you.
