My computer has been infected with a trojan virus, how will i get rid of it i have only just installed norton anti virus after i got the virus but it hasnt removed it and i dont know what to do. I dont want to spend another fortune on another anti virus disc. Also how can i get rid of the virus without losing mt data please help somebody, and are there any free websites offering spyware removal?

Norton will remove most virus but I know it will not remove vundo trojan.

run the scan find the file and trojan name. search for the patch on the norton website. they will have the patch for removing that virus with all the instructions.

Well, try deleting the cookie files and the temporary internet files. To do that you have to click Start, then right click your Internet explorer then go to properties then click delete and delete all. That usually works for internet viruses. Then run your virus scan again and see if you have it. If you are useing Mozilla Fire fox, open it then go to TOOLS then click clear private data. Hope this works

look on keyboard for num lock key and press it, for the keypad to work. should be located on the keypad.

start/run/msconfig/start up tab/uncheck uneccessary programing's from starting up when comp is booted.

to speed up pages loading delete temp file's by control panel/ network and internet connection's/internet option's/ delete file's and cookies along with offline pages.

also to help it run better and smoother defrag comp.

start/all programs/accessories/system tool's/ defrag

avg or avast for a good free anti virus software.

Legally ... you can't! Sorry. Both products are available for purchase from Microsoft resellers (Powerpoint is part of the Office Suite). Pirate (Illegal) copies are probably available from file sharing groups.

install and run the adaware/spybot updater

disable restore

start-run-apps-accessories-sys... disk cleanup

reboot safe mode w/ networking (continually press f8 upon reboot)

Run adaware and spybot deleting anything they find.

Run Hijackthis (this shows all BHO's on ur browser~very important)

Run free online scan (trend.com bitdefender.com pandasoftware.com) remove any findings

Run winsockfix v1.2

reboot

enable restore

I use the Free Edition of AVG. It is a really simple, easy to use. Do a google or Yahoo search for "free anti-virus" program. There is a lot out there to chose from!

I agree. Once upon a time, Ad-Aware was good. now most malware can defeat it. Spybot S%26D is great, but can't get everything. A program I've started using is called SUPERAntiSpyware. It looks and sounds like a rogue, but it's actually VERY good. http://www.superantispyware.com is the website.

adaware doesn't watch for spyware, it looks for adware as the name implies. duh.
Last time I looked Spybot hadn't been updated for a looooong time, and I've found AdAware to be very capable indeed.

As to being an "computer/software" engineer, I think you'll find most software engineers know nothing about running a computer, only writing code, and computer engineers just wouldn't say what you said.
